Tea Time + Backgrounds with Embossing Folders

This new set from Brutus Monroe, TEA TIME, is so fun with all the stacks of mugs, teapots, and lovely sentiments! I chose to keep the coloring simple and pair these images with some backgrounds created with a few EMBOSSING FOLDERS from Brutus Monroe, as well.

For my first card, I colored this fun stacked cups image in with my STYLEFILE MARKERS. I used mostly greys, blues, and reds. I then fussy cut them out and set them aside as I created a quick and simple background.

I ran my white cardstock panel through my SIZZIX along with the VINTAGE TAPESTRY FOLDER. Now you could leave your background just as is and it would look fantastic, but I decided to highlight just the area of the background behind the cups with some simple ink blending.

I took my INK BLENDING TOOL and a bit of TUMBLED GLASS DISTRESS INK, and just lightly blended some color on over the embossed background. If you use a light hand, the ink will color just the raised portions of the paper and highlight that gorgeous texture!

My second card is similar, but I added a few more steps for some visual interest. For this background, I embossed my cardstock using the PETAL LACE FOLDER. I then cut the panel into a number of odd shaped squares and rectangles. I did this with my paper trimmer, but the MOSAIC PAPER PUNCH would also be a fantastic tool to use for this technique!

Once all my squares and rectangles were trimmed out, I placed them on the card at an angle. I also stamped some tea bags from my LAWN FAWN LOVE YOU A LATTE stamp set and colored them just a bit with colored pencils. I added those kraft panels to the sides and then made a cute little shaker bag to adhere my tea pot and cups to.

I then added the sentiment on some foam adhesive and that finished the card! I hope this gives you a nice look at the TEA TIME STAMP SET, and some ideas on how to use those EMBOSSING FOLDERS!
