Welcome! Today’s cards feature a very simple technique that gives great results. Lately I have been in a phase where I am loving kraft cardstock on my cards. I love the natural look they bring to a project, so I decided to try a little colored pencil coloring on these images.
I made two cards that coordinate, so they can be given as a set, or just sent in the mail to a loved one. I also made a quick video tutorial if you would like to see the process!
For this first card, I used the stamp set, CONSERVATORY OF QUOTES from Brutus Monroe. This is one of my favorite sets! Florals are always a win in my craft room! I stamped and embossed the image using Brutus Monroe’s GILDED EMBOSSING POWDER.
After the image was embossed, I used my PRISMACOLOR PENCILS and a few Tombow Pencils to do some simple coloring and blending. I like to put a layer of white on my image before adding my color. That way, the color is more vibrant on the dark kraft cardstock.
I added a sentiment using some RAVEN BLACK EMBOSSING POWDER embossed on vellum, and then adhered it right onto the floral image.
My second card was created much the same way. Stamped, embossed, and colored on. I also fussy cut some of those tiny flowers and adhered them with foam adhesive. The sentiment on this card was just stamped right onto the kraft panel.
For both of these cards, I used a few strips of RINEA FOIL in Brutus Monroe colors. I love that this foil paper coordinates with Brutus Monroe embossing powders! It gives a perfect color match and a fun metallic element to my cards.
Thanks for stopping by to take a look! I hope you enjoy what you see and that you are inspired to try a little coloring of your own!
Until next time,
