Decorating Your Planner with Decofoil + Brutus Monroe

Welcome back! This week the Brutus Monroe Inspiration Team is joining up with Therm O Web to bring you some fun ways to use Deco Foil on your projects! For today’s post I wanted to focus on using some Deco Foil in your planners.

I have several different planners. I use the Happy Planner for most of my memory keeping right now, but I’ve also begun using a traveler’s notebook. I also have several finished Heidi Swapp planners that I’ve used in the past. I think any of these tips would work on any planner set up you may use!

First, I grabbed one of my canvas zipper totes from CANVAS CORP BRANDS and added some OZ SURFACE SPRAY to the bottom. I taped off the portion that I wanted to color and then carefully sprayed it until it was evenly covered. I also slipped some scratch paper into the inside of the tote so that the spray wouldn’t bleed through to the backside. I then removed the tape and let it dry.

Next, I took some of my MIXED MEDIA GLUE and applied it over the area I sprayed. I let it dry just a bit until it was sticky, and then applied the Shattered Gold Deco Foil over it. I made sure to press and rub the foil into the glue so it would stick. Then, I carefully peeled back the foil to get a gold leafed effect.

To finish the tote, I added a little FLAIR PIN with Brutus Monroe’s motto, “Create Your Own Ending”, on it. I thought this would be a fun little tote to store pens, washi, stickers, and other planner embellishments in so I could plan on the go!

DIY Traveler's Notebook Inserts with Brutus Monroe and Thermoweb. Marie Nicole Designs.

Next, I grabbed my traveler’s notebook and decided to make some fun mini inserts! You could make inserts any size you’d like, but the one here with the little coffee cup and donut is 3.5×5″. I made a quick video on how I make my own inserts:

I used the stamp sets, COZY COFFEE and DONUT WORRY from Brutus Monroe to stamp, color, and cut out the images. I then decorated the front of my insert using these images along with some of Thermoweb’s Deco Foil Clear Designer Toner Sheets. I also added some color behind the toner sheet by blending on some SPECKLED EGG SURFACE INK to the front of the insert.

I love that it’s so easy to make your own inserts and decorate them for any specific purpose!

Last, but not least, I used a bit of the Deco Foil Clear Designer Toner Sheets in a pocket page. At the present, I am using a Happy Planner to journal and keep memories in. I like to make pocket page layouts now and then to display some favorite photos. The striped toner sheet was perfect for cutting down to size and slipping into one of the pockets to showcase this photo of my kiddos.

I also added a little stamped and embossed bow from Brutus Monroe’s SKETCHED BOW STAMP SET. The color of embossing powder I used is Emerald from the SUMMER EMBOSSING POWDER COLLECTION.

I also used my We R Memory Keepers – Photo Sleeve Fuse Tool to create a shaker pocket on the bottom left corner, and layered some fussy cut florals over it from CANVAS CORP’S COMPOSE YOUR LIFE COLLECTION of papers.

I finished off the page with a few other embellishments and die cuts.

I hope you enjoyed today’s post! Don’t forget to check out all the amazing inspiration from the rest of the Brutus Monroe Team!
