This week’s blog hop with the Brutus Monroe team is one I very much enjoyed! The theme is Team Favorites- everyone is creating something using their favorite Brutus Monroe items.
My favorite items on this card are some of my NEW favorites. I used some recently released items from Brutus Monroe to create a very soft, pretty card. I think it would be great as a baby girl card, or just to give to someone who enjoys a very feminine look.
I started this card by taking one of the CIRCLE DIES from Brutus Monroe and cutting it out of white cardstock. These circle dies are such a great set! You get a number of sizes of circles, and they all have the stitched edges. You can never go wrong with basic shape dies!
I covered the circle with some Brutus Monroe EMBOSSING INK, and then I sprinkled on one of my new favorite embossing powders, PINK CHAMPAGNE. This powder is such a lovely soft pink, with a metallic shine to it. It’s perfect!
The “hello” sentiment is a die that I cut out using my Sizzix machine, and then I adhered it to the front using my Zig glue pen.
I also used a bit of the Brutus Monroe WAXED TISSUE PAPER. This paper is a thin, tissue like paper. You can stamp on it and color it with your inks, but in this case I preferred to cut it into strips and ruffle it on my card. A great way to add some feminine texture! For the ruffle underneath the sentiment, I ran it through my sewing machine. Who doesn’t love the look of stitched paper?
Before I adhered everything down, I added some tiny splatters to the background of my card. I used my black ZIG BRUSH MARKER for this. I just colored my Zig onto my Brutus Monroe CRAFT MAT, mixed it with water, and then picked up the color with a paintbrush and added the splatters. Such a small amount of color dried almost immediately, but I did dry it with my heat tool just to be sure.
I finished the card by adding a bow that I stamped from the SKETCHED BOW stamp set, and then brushed the sentiment with a little Wink of Stella (it’s hard to see the shimmer in the photos, but it’s there!).
All these elements come together to create my favorite type of card- clean, simple, and pretty!
Thanks for stopping by today! Please hop along to the rest of the team’s blog posts to see their favorite things!
