Welcome back to the blog! This week, the Brutus Monroe team has been focusing their projects on using the SIMPLE BLENDS. These are simple screens or masks that you can use again and again to create stunning cards. Use them to create a spotlight-type card, or as I am doing today, to create a scene.
Since Halloween is coming up, I thought the CIRCLE SIMPLE BLEND would be perfect for creating a full moon scene. I have a process video here showing how easy it is to use these SIMPLE BLENDS for scenes!
I started by using the SIMPLE BLENDS and masking off the circle for the moon in the background. I used the SURFACE INK colors, ROUGE, AUBERGINE, and MIDNIGHT and ink blended a night sky.
After I had the background all blended, I removed the circle and then added the outside frame around the masked off circle. I then used a palette knife to apply my GLOW IN THE DARK GLITTER GLAZE. This created a huge, glowing full moon with some sparkle.
With my background done, I set it aside to let the moon dry while I die cut some pieces for the foreground. I used a birchwood forest die and cut it twice, once from black cardstock and once from white. I stacked the two pieces over each other with the black in front. I also die cut some bats and the sentiments. The sentiment is cut with some BRUTUS MONROE GLITTERSTOCK.
I glued the die cut pieces all on the front, and then added a few sequins, as well. I also brushed the bats with a little Wink of Stella for some more shimmer.
I loved how amazing this card turned out, so I decided to create another!
For this card, I used the SIMPLE BLENDS again in the same way for the background. Instead of a whole forest in the foreground, though, I used just a few die cut branches. I added the same sentiment, bats, and sequins as the first card, though.
I hope these cards show you what’s possible with the BRUTUS MONROE SIMPLE BLENDS! Please be sure to stop by the rest of the team’s blog posts to see what they have created with their SIMPLE BLENDS! Happy hopping!
I love these! Your backgrounds are lovely!
