If you are hopping along with UNITY STAMPS and BRUTUS MONROE today, welcome! Im sure you have already seen so many inspiring pieces of art today featuring these new background stamps! This hop is full of talented designers!

For my post in the hop, I decided to create a soft and floral card featuring the BRICK WALL background stamp.

Unity Stamps + Brutus Monroe Blog Hop. New Brick Wall Background Stamp! Marie Nicole Designs.

I had so many ideas for this background stamp! The brick wall would be perfect for embossing and then watercoloring over, ink blending, or even just stamping in random places on an art journal or mixed media piece. I decided to grab my GILDED EMBOSSING POWDER (my favorite!) and emboss this background on a vellum sheet of paper.

I loved how the embossing turned out! There is so much texture and detail on this stamp and the embossing powder helps show that off beautifully!

After my background was embossed, I set it aside while I watercolored a few flowers. These flowers are from the COMPOSE YOUR LIFE paper collection from Canvas Corp Brands. They are printed on watercolor paper so they are so easy to add color to and then fussy cut out. I watercolored these pieces using my new BRUTUS MONROE AQUA PIGMENTS. I added in some light pinks, purples, and even a hint of blue on these flowers.

I used a piece of LUNCHBAG KRAFT for the folded card base. Then, I glued down my vellum background onto a piece of ALABASTER CARDSTOCK and trimmed the edges to be neat and clean. I adhered the background to my card base.

Next, I arranged my flowers and adhered them down using a mix of BRUTUS MONROE CRAFT GLUE as well as a few pieces of foam adhesive. This gave a variety of heights and gave the flowers more visual interest.

For my sentiment, I added a strip of black cardstock to which I embossed the sentiment in ALABASTER EMBOSSING POWDER. The sentiment is from the SUPER SENTIMENTAL stamp set. I love this large 6×8 stamp set full of sentiments for any occasion!

I then finished off the card with some natural jute twine, as well as a few sparkly sequins. I love that you can use this Brick Wall background in a way that can become softer, but you could also completely switch it up and do something masculine with it, as well!
