Aqua Pigment Smooshing

If you have been following my blog at all, you know that I have been utterly obsessed with the new Brutus Monroe AQUA PIGMENTS! These liquid watercolors are so fun to play with, and I wanted to share a quick and easy card I created using a “smooshing” technique to achieve this rainbow background!

I grabbed a sheet of my AQUA PIGMENT PAPER and cut it down to fit on the front of an A2 sized card. Then, I dropped some colors right onto the paper using the droppers from the AQUA PIGMENT bottles. I knew I wantedย  rainbow colors, so I chose RED, PINK, ORANGE, YELLOW, GREEN, BLUE, and BLUE VIOLET, in that order.

After dropping on the color, I carefully laid a sheet of plastic from a package over the top of my watercolors, and “smooshed” the droplets around with my fingers. I love watching the color move around as it is being “smooshed”!

Once I was happy with the “smooshed” impression of the colors, I removed the plastic sheet and then hit the colors with my heat tool.

I stamped out several feathers from the BIRDS OF A FEATHER stamp set onto vellum, and embossed them in GILDED EMBOSSING POWDER. Then, I fussy cut the feathers and adhered them over my AQUA PIGMENT background.

To finish the card, I stamped one of the sentiments from the BIRDS OF A FEATHER stamp set in my DETAIL INK, and then quickly sprinkled on some ICICLE EMBOSSING POWDER over the ink before it dried. I then melted the powder with my heat tool for a smooth, shiny embossed sentiment. I then sprinkled some sequins around on the front of the card and glued them down!

Smooshing the AQUA PIGMENTS was an easy way to create a colorful and quick card!

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope this has inspired you to “smoosh” some color onto your own cards.

Until next time,
Marie Nicole
