I recently took advantage of some fantastic Black Friday deals, and one thing I purchased was this amazing stamp and die set from Concord & 9th, FILL-IN POSIES. I love that there are so many options available with this set! From stamping out a one-layer card, to doing lots of die cut layering, and even techniques in between.
Today, I am sharing some ideas on how you can take some non-Christmas stamps and dies and turn them into Christmas cards! Just by adding some Christmas sentiments I already had, and using a more festive color palette, I was able to come up with two Christmas cards that I absolutely love!
For my first card, I stamped out the background using some EMBOSSING INK and embossed it with the new GILDED SPARKLE EMBOSSING POWDER from Brutus Monroe. Then, I stamped the large flower images and embossed those, as well.
I then used some GARGOYLE SURFACE INK to fill in the leaves and berries around the flowers. This resulted in a subtle pattern for the background which I absolutely love!
For the sentiment, I die cut the word “friend” from the coordinating dies, and layered then onto the card front. I adhered them down with some Brutus Monroe CRAFT GLUE. Then, I found a small sentiment from a stamp set in my stash that I embossed onto a thin strip of cardstock, and adhered right over the “friend” letters. Just adding that supporting Christmas sentiment and using more Christmas-y colors, this turned into a pretty Christmas card!
For my second card, I used mostly the dies. I went ahead and die cut many of the floral pieces out of cardstocks from Brutus Monroe. I used the colors MARSALA, JURASSIC, RAVEN, and some white GLITTERSTOCK.
After I had all my pieces die cut, I created the background for my card by blending on some ALABASTER PIGMENT INK just around the edges of my black cardstock base. Then, I grabbed my new GILDED LIQUID ELEMENTS and splattered the whole background.
I also made sure to cut the word, “friend” out of some RAVEN CARDSTOCK that was splattered with LIQUID ELEMENTS, as well. I then just layered on all the die cut pieces, gluing them down with both CRAFT GLUE and foam adhesive.
I again used the same Christmas sentiment, but this time embossed in ALABASTER EMBOSSING POWDER, and then layered it over the “friend” and over the large flower die cut.
Lastly, I added some black sequins and then mounted it to a black cardstock base!
Hopefully this inspires you to look through your stash and think about which sets you can change up to create Christmas cards with!
