So glad you stopped in for another Wednesday blog hop! This week, the Brutus Monroe design team is showing off their masking techniques!
For today’s card, I used a few stamps from UNITY and masked off one center image in order to create a gathering of several flowers that I then colored with both AQUA PIGMENTS and LIQUID ELEMENTS. Here’s the replay of the live video I did creating this card!
Like shown in the video, I grabbed some of my RAVEN CARDSTOCK and stamped out one of the floral images right in the center. I then embossed the image with some GILDED SPARKLE EMBOSSING POWDER.
I then masked off that center flower, and stamped the other flower on either side of it, also embossing them in the same GILDED SPARKLE EMBOSSING POWDER. Once my images were all embossed, I cut the panel down so that my flowers were perfectly centered.
I then painted in the flowers using the new GILDED LIQUID ELEMENTS from Brutus Monroe. Once the flowers were filled in with the Liquid Elements, I colored the leaves and other branches in with some PEARL AQUA PIGMENTS. This added so much shine!
I then also added some splatters over the image with more of that Pearl Aqua Pigments. I just love how it adds a bit more texture and interest to the card.
With my images stamped and colored, I decided to mount the panel onto a Raven Cardstock card base. I did this by cutting down a piece of scrap paper to 4″x5.25″. This is just slightly smaller than a full A2 card, so it left a nice matting around the edge of the front panel.
I added some gold washi tape to the top and bottom of the front panel, and then adhered the stamped images over them. I love the bit of gold border peeking out of both the top and bottom, and it really pulls the whole look together!
Lastly, I stamped and embossed the sentiment onto a strip of that same black cardstock, and added it to the bottom right hand side. Then, I added just a few sequins around the sentiment. Might as well add just a bit more shine, right?
Thanks so much for stopping by to see today’s card! I hope this inspires you to try a few of these techniques on your own. Please remember to follow along in the hop to see what the rest of the team has created. Happy Hopping!
