Sprinkled with Love- Favorite Techniques BLOG HOP!

Welcome back, friends! For today’s blog hop the theme is Favorite Techniques! We all have those favorite techniques that we go to again and again. I’ve combined a number of my favorite techniques to create my favorite style of card- clean and simple. I also tried a new technique referred to my by a friend- dry embossing with your stencils! I tried this technique for the first time live on my YouTube channel. Here’s the replay in case you’d like to watch!

So the first thing I did for this card is I ran my white cardstock through my PLATINUM 6 using my TANGLED WAVES stencil as an embossing folder. I tried several different ways of embossing with my stencils, and found that spritzing your cardstock with a little mist of water before running it through will actually give you better results. For this card, the background is very subtle, but it gives some texture and design that makes the card interesting when you are holding it in your hand!

I then die cut a heart using my WINNIE AND WALTER TRUE MULTIFACETED HEART CUTAWAYS. I cut this heart out of some AQUA PIGMENT paper that I ink smooshed some AQUA PIGMENTS into- another one of my favorite techniques! Ink smooshing is so easy to do, but gives great results. I love the watercolor background on this heart!

I then stamped out some ice creams from the SPRINKLED WITH LOVE stamp set using my DETAIL INK. Then, I colored in the images using my STYLEFILE MARKERS.

I used my EMBOSSING INK to stamp out the sentiment, and then embossed it in GILDED EMBOSSING POWDER. It’s no secret if you follow my cards at all that I am in LOVE with gold embossing! I also love how the embossed sentiment picked up that dry embossed design from the cardstock. It gives some texture and interest to the sentiment!

With all my card elements ready, I just needed to assemble the card. I used my FOAM ADHESIVE to adhere the front panel to my card base. Then, I also popped up the heart with some foam adhesive, and then adhered the colored images over the heart using my CRAFT GLUE. I finished the card with some sequins to add some shine!

So this card combines my love of clean and simple designs with my favorite techniques of ink smooshing and gold embossing. A fun Valentine’s card to send to a friend or loved one!
