Welcome back, friends! I am sharing this fun card featuring the SPACE TRAVELERS STAMP SET from Kindred Stamps. If you haven’t already checked out KINDRED STAMPS, go do it now! They have so many pop-culture inspired sets that you are sure to find something to suit that geek in your life. I have several geeks in mind that I will be sending some of these cards to!
I started off my stamping out all my images so I could color them in. I loaded the stamps into my MISTI and stamped them out in Brutus Monroe RAVEN DETAIL INK. This ink is great for any kind of coloring since it is permanent when dry. This means that it can be used for alcohol markers AND watercolors and you do not have to worry about it smudging. Its my go-to ink for coloring!
I colored in my images using my STYLEFILE MARKERS, and then fussy cut them all out. I then set them aside as I began to work on my space background.
I have done many galaxy backgrounds in the past, but this time I wanted to go simple. I used only a few shades of blue, ROCK CANDY and LOCOMOTIVE, and then darkened the edges just a bit more with GARGOYLE. The main thing I wanted to accomplish was to have a bright, spotlight area in the middle to help my characters stand out.
Once my ink blending was done, I splattered on the “stars” using my PEARL AQUA PIGMENT. This Aqua Pigment doesn’t really add color, but it does show up as shimmery spots, so it was perfect for adding some subtle stars. One thing I love about the Surface Inks that I used is they are not reactive with water or liquids, so they wont run when you add more mediums on top. This made it possible to load up my background with shimmery stars without worry of my ink blending running.
I then was able to arrange all my colored images to the front of my galaxy background, some with foam adhesive and some with liquid glue. After I had all my images arranged, the only thing left was to add the sentiment!
This stamp set has so many great sentiments, but I chose the “Go Boldly” one because I thought it fit nicely with the scene. I stamped the sentiment using my Brutus Monroe EMBOSSING INK, and then embossed it with STERLING EMBOSSING POWDER. I love how the silver matches perfectly with the shimmer from the stars!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this card as much as I enjoyed creating it!
Until next time,

Freaking awesome! I have this same stamp set with the idea to make my husband and BFF cards; however, to be honest, I am so clueless on how to color it and make a space scene. My husband, ironically enough is watch Star Trek at the moment while I was read you blog post!
Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful work
