Welcome back for another blog hop! This week, the Inspiration Team is featuring the new MICRO PEARLS from Brutus Monroe! I have the Bold Collection of pearls, and was really excited to try these out. Today, I am sharing how I created a tiny shaker piece to add to the front of a card!
I started creating my shaker flower by die cutting this flower from WINNIE AND WALTER. I thought this flower was perfect for a tiny shaker because it cuts out the solid backing piece, as well as the tiny details that I was able to stack on each other to create “walls” to keep my beads in.
I cut my flower from a piece of wood “paper” from Spellbinders. I love the unique look this gives to the flower, and it really makes it look like this flower was carved from wood! I cut the back piece of the flower, and then stacked three layers of the detailed piece on top. Then, I sprinkled in the Micro Pearls. Next, I carefully adhered a piece of acetate over the “walls”, and then added just one more detail piece over the acetate. This just gives the flower a more finished look.
As you can see from the photos, I used the pink Micro Pearls for the flower, and the clear ones in the leaves.
I then cut down a few pieces of printed paper from Canvas Corp Brands. This paper is part of their Bohemian Romance collection and is just gorgeous with these watercolor flowers! I thought they went well with the theme of this card. I also tore a piece of vellum with a script print on it to layer on the bottom half of the card. Then, I cut the sentiment using a Heidi Swapp word die, and then embossed a strip of paper with a supporting sentiment using my GILDED EMBOSSING POWDER.
To finish my card, I embellished it using some twine tied into a bow, and then mounted it onto a kraft cardstock card base. This card has such a natural, spring feel to it, and I love the unexpected addition of a tiny shaker flower on the front!
Thanks for stopping by today! I have a few items linked below that I used to create this card.
