Get ready for a lot of photos! I tend to take many photos of a project that I really like- and I REALLY like this one!
As you may already know, Brutus Monroe has a monthly stencil subscription. With this subscription, you receive one unique stencil each month. This month’s stencil is this gorgeous, lace-inspired design. I love this stencil and wanted to show off as much of it as I could, so I went ahead and made a full background with it!
I started by cutting down a piece of HONEYSUCKLE CARDSTOCK to fit an A2 sized card. Then, I placed my stencil over the cardstock and lightly taped it down from the back with some painter’s tape. I like taping my stencils from the back, so when you peel off the tape, your card front is not ruined even if the tape tears the paper a bit.
With my stencil adhered down, I grabbed some MEDIA PASTE and spread it over the stencil. You could also use some texture or embossing paste, or even some CHROMA GLAZE! I then carefully lifted up my stencil to reveal the stunning design!
Once I had the stencil removed, I quickly washed it with warm, soapy water and left it to dry. Then, I decided I wanted to add some sparkle to this card, so I grabbed my SPARKLING SNOWFLAKE GLITTER and sprinkled it completely over this whole design. I used a coffee filter underneath my card to catch the extra glitter and put it back into its container.
Now, I do not recommend this technique if you do not like glitter everywhere- because glitter WILL be everywhere! However, if that does not bother you, then the results of this technique are stunning!
I set the stenciled background aside to dry while I worked on a sentiment. I did not want to cover much of this beautiful background, so I decided to make a very simple sentiment.
I die cut the word “sparkle” three times and stacked it up on each other. Then, I die cut the rest of the sentiment from my Brutus Monroe ALPHA DIES. I adhered all the wording down onto a piece of vellum, and then onto a white cardstock rectangle. I added a small heart underneath the sentiment, as well.
The stenciled background stands out so much on its own that you really dont need to add much else to make this a stunning card! I would definitely recommend placing this card into a plastic sleeve before mailing though, so that glitter doesnt get all over your postal worker!
Thanks for stopping by today!
Until next time,
