Easy Color Block Cards with Brutus Monroe Embossing Powders

Welcome, crafty friends! I have two fun cards to share and they both feature a color block technique that is easy and fun! I used a few of the Brutus Monroe embossing powders from their Embossing Powder of the Month Subscription for these cards.

For my first card, I used the March Embossing Powder color, SOUR APPLE. This color is a bright green that also has a shimmery finish to it. I paired this powder with some GARGOYLE SURFACE INK to create my color blocks.

I started by taping off the sections with some washi tape. Then, for my color block that I used the embossing powder on, I squished my EMBOSSING INK directly from my ink pad onto my paper. I then sprinkled on the powder and heat embossed it.

After I had my Embossing Powder melted, I added my surface ink by simply ink blending it on. I then die cut the sentiment, added a strip of black paper along the lines, and then mounted it to a card base with foam adhesive.

For my second card, I used two colors of embossing powder- March’s CORAL and one of my favorites, GILDED SPARKLE.

I again just taped off the sections using washi tape. I heat embossed my two embossing powders, and ink blended the green on using my SPECKLED EGG SURFACE INK. I added the sentiment again by die cutting the letters, and embellished with some die cut hearts.

These two cards were so simple! You could make a set of these quickly if you wanted to. I found a lot of inspiration for these designs by searching the internet for “color blocking designs”. You could really get creative with your patterns, and change up the colors for guys or girls.

Thanks for stopping by today! Please check out the list of supplies below if you are interested in any of the items I used for today’s post.

Until next time,
Marie Nicole
