Welcome, friends! I am creating simple light up cards today! Have you ever created a light up card? I’ll be honest, I never created one before trying this POWER PACK KIT from Pear Blossom Press, but this kit makes it so easy! Take a closer look at the kit in my video below:
All the pieces are there for you! You get three LED lights, three battery switches, and plenty of copper tape! I have enough leftover for several more cards!
My first card that I showed in my video is this fun one using a Kindred Stamps stamp set. I thought a light up card would be perfect with this sentiment, so I stamped the characters, colored them with my STYLEFILE MARKERS, and created an ink blended background for them using SURFACE INKS. I then die cut the stars and moon and layered a piece of vellum behind the cut outs.
With the front of my card mostly done, I worked at assembling the “guts”, or the light and battery. I marked out with a pencil where I wanted my elements to go, and then adhered them down. I then made sure to connect the positive side of the light to the positive side of the battery, and the same with the negative sides. Make sure that you test the light out to make sure you have a good connection. If you don’t try adding a little more tape- especially at corners- so that the power can run through from the battery to the light.
Then, layer some foam tape around your pieces and layer your card front on top of the pieces! I like to keep testing the light as Im building around it just to make sure that the connection isn’t accidentally interrupted.
After my first card, I made second light up card with another Kindred Stamps set. For this one, I made one of the fire balls light up as if the spaceship was shooting. I created the “guts” of this card the same way as I did with my first- lined everything up, marked with a pencil, made all my connections, and made sure the light was working. This one turned out to be a really fun card, too!
One thing you may want to add to your cards is a little tab or note that says, “press here”. I know several stamp companies sell stamps for this reason, or you could always write directions in your card. You don’t want the recipient missing out on the light up fun!
Thanks for stopping by to take a look at these cards! I hope the video and photos has given you an idea on how to build your own light up cards, and how easy it is to do using this POWER PACK KIT from PEAR BLOSSOM PRESS!
