Welcome to another Brutus Monroe blog hop! This week, the team is focusing on making cards for MOM! Mother’s Day is coming up, so we want to make some special cards for those special ladies in our lives.
I started my card by cutting some watercolor paper down to size to fit an long and skinny card, I believe this is an A10 size card.
After I had my cardstock trimmed down, I stamped out the floral images from the SPRING WREATH stamp set, and embossed them in ALABASTER WHITE EMBOSSING POWDER. Since I knew I was going to be watercoloring this card, I went with embossing. This is a great way to do a resist-type technique that is so simple yet looks amazing!
I stamped my images on just the top corners, and then watercolored them using some AQUA PIGMENTS. I used the TURQUOISE and YELLOW GREEN colors. I applied quite a bit of water over my image before just dropping in a bit of the color with my watercolor brush. This helped the watercolor to flow and spread, giving me a soft and loose look.
I then added some splatters with the AQUA PIGMENTS, and also added some gold splatters with GILDED LIQUID ELEMENTS. I wanted to add some gold to tie in with my sentiment!
I used my SPELLBINDERS GLIMMER FOIL SYSTEM to add my sentiment. I foiled the letters to spell the word, MOM, trimmed them out, and added them on some foam adhesive. Then, I used the supporting sentiment, “you are amazing”, underneath. This sentiment is from the BUTTERFLY SENTIMENTS 2.0 stamp set, and I embossed it in GILDED EMBOSSING POWDER.
To finish the card, I mounted the front panel up on some FOAM TAPE and adhered it to a kraft card base. Love the simplicity of this card!
