Hello, crafty friends! I’m sharing a totally tropical card today that makes me want to take the first flight out to Hawaii! Not even kidding! This is a new stamp set available over at Unity Stamps. Designed by Gracielle Design, this stamp set has a large hibiscus image along with two leaf images and five fun sentiments! I couldn’t wait to create a colorful scene with this!
I started by taking a piece of SEA CARDSTOCK from Brutus Monroe and stamping the leaves all around it to create a border. For my stamping, I used a variety of colors from FUN STAMPERS JOURNEY. Their hybrid fusion inks are gorgeous!
After my background was stamped, I then stamped out and embossed the flowers and a few leaves in GILDED EMBOSSING POWDER. I thought the gold would be a nice addition to this tropical theme.
I then added some quick coloring to the embossed images by ink blending on some color. If you don’t have much coloring supplies like markers or colored pencils, ink blending will most of the time do the trick! Its also a quick way to color images, if you are in a hurry.
I then fussy cut all my pieces in order to arrange them onto the front of this card!
I wanted to add some more gold detail, so I used two of my stitched rectangle dies from Brutus Monroe (these dies are retired, sorry!), and placed the smaller rectangle inside the larger one and cut out some GLITTERSTOCK. Using two dies together in this way creates a frame that you can use on your projects.
I added this frame over my stamped background, and began to layer my fussy cut pieces over the frame. Once I knew where I wanted to adhere my flowers and leaves, I used some glue and foam adhesive to stick them down.
For my sentiment, I stamped and embossed the “sending a little sunshine” sentiment on a small piece of that same SEA CARDSTOCK. I then adhered it right above my flowers with some more foam adhesive.
To embellish and finish this card, I added some GOLD FRIENDSHIP SEQUINS from Fun Stampers Journey, and also used my NUVO SHIMMER BRUSH to add some gold shimmer to select areas. Can never have too much shimmer!
Thanks for stopping by today! Please head on over to Unity to see more of their fabulous stamps! I also have all the items listed below that I used on today’s card, so check it out if you are interested!
Until next time,
