Welcome back to another Brutus Monroe blog hop! This week, the team is re-creating cards that they have been inspired by! I chose to recreate LAUREN’S AMAZING CARD. I loved the layering she did with the papers, the clever scoring lines, and the sentiment.
I began by using some bright SURFACE INKS to ink blend a background. Lauren ink blended over an embossed background stamp, but I wanted to use the MAY STENCIL for my design, so I added the ink first.
After my ink was all blended out, I applied some FALLEN SNOW GLITTER GLAZE over the MAY STENCIL OF THE MONTH. This Fallen Snow glaze adds more sparkle than color, so it created a sparkly design while letting the ink color still shine through.
One thing that I love about the SURFACE INKS is that they are permanent. You are able to add different mediums on top without worry of the ink running and tinting the glaze!
I set the glazed background aside to dry while I scored the cardstock that I would build my card on. Then, I trimmed down my ink blended and glitter glazed piece- one side slightly smaller than the other. I layered the small piece on some white cardstock, and then layered that over the larger ink blended piece.
I then added my stacked pieces over the scored piece. I didn’t want the sentiment to take away too much from the background, so I embossed it in white on a piece of vellum. Since there wasn’t much room to hide adhesive behind this vellum, I ran it through my Xyron sticker maker to evenly apply adhesive to the back of my sentiment.
To finish off the card, I added a few sequins. So pretty! I loved re-creating such a stunning card design by Lauren!
