Spellbinder’s Decorative Glimmer BLOG HOP!

Hello, friends! I am sharing a few cards created by using the new DECORATIVE GLIMMER plates from Spellbinders! These plates are so gorgeous!

Blog-1800x1200

I created two cards for the blog hop today! One uses the glimmer plate as the main focus and background of the card, and the other uses one of the glimmer plates as a pretty accent. Any way you choose to use these plates will make your foiled cards look fabulous!

For my first card, I used the FLOWER PATTERN GLIMMER PLATE and foiled it using some gold foil. I then trimmed the cardstock down to a bit smaller than an A2 size card. This left a little border of white around the edges, and gave the card a more finished look.

I then took one of my light colors of StyleFile markers-Turquoise Blue- and colored all the white space around the flowers and branches. This helped the flowers and the design to pop out a bit more. I also love the combination of light blue and gold!

For a few of my flowers, I added some shimmer from a gold shimmer brush that I have in my stash. This added a little sparkle without adding any color.

To finish off the card, I added an oval with the sentiment, “have a beautiful day”, embossed in gold. I definitely did not want to take away from the beautiful background, so a simple sentiment was just what this card needed!

For my next card, I used one of the CIRCLE PATTERNS GLIMMER PLATES to add a foiled frame around a stamped image.

I started this card by stamping out this floral cone using the Spellbinders stamp set, THANKS A BUNCH. This set is so cute! You can stamp out the cone and then fill it with all kinds of little flowers and leaves.

To get the foiled frame to look like it was layered behind my stamped cone, I did a bit of masking much like you would if you were masking with stamps. I simply cut some masking paper and applied it over the cone. Then, I added my foil and glimmer plate where I wanted it to be, added some washi tape to keep it in place, and ran it through my Glimmer. After, I peeled away the masking paper and got a perfect frame for my cone.

Being able to mask with the glimmer plates opens up so many possibilities in foiling!

To finish this card, I embossed the sentiment from the stamp set on some light blue cardstock using gold embossing powder. Its a simple but pretty card!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope these cards inspire you to fire up your Glimmer machine and add some shine to your projects.
