Adding Sparkle to a Black Cardstock Base

Hey, friends! If you follow my cards you know that I definitely like a little sparkle on my projects. Well, this card is no exception! I’ve been playing around with different colors of cardstock for my base, and today I chose RAVEN BLACK from Brutus Monroe. I think black can be a very unexpected color for a card, but there is so much opportunity to sparkle it up! Check out my process video to see all the shiny things I put into this card!

I started by taking my piece of black cardstock and stamping the large leaf image with Versamark ink. I then sprinkled on my GILDED SPARKLE embossing powder and embossed that with my heat tool.

I added the other leaf image using white pigment ink from Brutus Monroe. For this, I used my MISTI, since I wanted to stamp several times to be sure to get a good white impression.

I stamped these images on an angle, since I planned on stamping another angled panel of cardstock to layer in front.

Along the edge of the layered panel, I added a strip of WELSH GOLD glitter cardstock from Tonic Studios. Then, to add yet more sparkle, I brushed the embossed leaves with some MIDAS TOUCH GOLD AQUA SHIMMER BRUSH from  Nuvo. This shimmer brush with full of gold sparkles!

I added some gold splatters with some Gilded Liquid Elements, and popped up the angled panel with some foam adhesive.

To finish the card, I added the sentiment, “hello”, from some white cardstock cut with a Tonic die. Then, I added some Nuvo Champagne Sequins.

SO. MUCH. SPARKLE.
