Hey, friends! I have a new card for you today, in a different style than my usual cards. This one is created with the new Steampunk Stamp Set from Brutus Monroe. This stamp set is gorgeous! It has a number of images in Steampunk style. I decided to try to make a one-layered card using lots of ink blending, masking, and stenciling. It ended up looking more like an art journal page, so I decided to call this, “art journal style”.
I started by stamping the image of the girl, and then masking her off with masking paper. Once she was covered with the masking paper, I started ink blending the background with my mini Distress Ink cubes. I used some bright green and yellows, and then added lots of shades of browns.
I also used a gears stencil from TCW, as well as the Brick Background stamp from Unity. I stamped out the hot air balloon from the Steampunk stamp set on the upper lefthand side in brown, so it blends in, but you can notice it if you look at the background.
I then added some gold splatters using Gilded Liquid Elements. Since this is one of my cards, it needed some sparkle somewhere, right?
Once my background was finished, I slowly peeled off the masking paper to reveal the uncolored image of the girl. Then, I was able to color her in using my Stylefile Alcohol Markers. She is such a detailed stamp that it took a while to color her in!
Of course, since I am partial to redheads (my son is a redhead), I had to give her some dark red hair!
To finish this card, I added an embossed sentiment from another Brutus Monroe stamp set. I cut it into narrow strips, and adhered it to the card with foam adhesive.
This is a vastly different style from what I normally do, but I really love the result!
