I was able to play with this Jolly Marshmallow Snowman stamp set which is full of fun, sugary images! I decided to stamp out many of the images and then color them in to make a card full of comforting goodies.

Like I mentioned, I started by loading a number of the images onto my stamp platform, and stamping them out with some of the Nuvo hybrid black ink. This hybrid ink is perfect for coloring over, because once it is dry or heat set, it will not smear with any of your mediums! You can use it with watercolors OR alcohol markers.

I then used my Zig markers over my Bristol smooth paper to color my images. I wanted the inside of my mug to look like it was full of bubbly hot chocolate or coffee (whichever you prefer). I lightly sketched out some bubbles with a pencil, and then just slowly added color in. My video above has the whole coloring process if you want to see it!

For the background, I stamped and embossed the little snowflake stamp with white Nuvo embossing powder. Then, I used some brown tones of ink to blend a warm background over the embossed snowflakes. I wanted a warm and cozy card, and I think these browns help to achieve that.

I then arranged and adhered all the stamped, colored, and fussy cut images over my background. Most pieces are adhered with Nuvo Deluxe Liquid Glue, and a few are adhered with Craft Perfect foam squares.

To finish it off, I embossed a sentiment on a strip of black paper and tucked it in among the stamped images.

This card is so fun and festive! I also wanted to do another card with this set, just to show how you can change up the look and get more use out of your stamp sets.

For this card, I arranged the images on my card base and then stamped it out using my stamp platform and my gold Nuvo embossing powder. I like to emboss my images before watercoloring, because that raised embossed edge helps to keep all the beautiful color inside the lines.

Once my images were embossed, I grabbed a few colors of my Aqua Flow brushes to add the color. I like to add some color onto my glass mat first, and then mix with water before painting it onto my images with a paintbrush. This just gives me more control of the color and saturation.

You can get different shades of color from just one Aqua Flow brush. The more water you add, the lighter the shade. If you add it straight from the brush, it will be a very vibrant shade. I added several layers of color to build up the shades, and add some contrast with just one or two colors. I also used some Glitter Markers to add some darker, glittery shadowy areas.

I then added some light blue around the outside of my images to make it look like a fun, frosty background.

I hope you enjoyed stopping by! Please take a look at the affiliate links below if you are interested in any of the items I used.

Until next time,
Marie Nicole
