Tonic Studios Designer’s Choice- October 2019

Hey, friends! Today I get to share a brand new item from Tonic Studios- their Die of the Month, Designer’s Choice!

This month, the dies are this detailed dragonfly, embellished border, and a few other small dies and sentiments. Take a peek at the whole set in my process video:

The dies have everything you need to cut out an easel card, but I decided to go a different direction! I rarely do scrapbook pages anymore, but once in a while when I have some photos of my kids that I love, I decide to give scrapbooking a try.

I started by die cutting the Designer’s Choice dies from some Craft Perfect Honey Gold Mirror cardstock. I also grabbed some specialty cardstock, Evergreen Fir. This specialty cardstock is a hand crafted cotton paper that has some lovely embossed designs on it. I loved the green with the dragonfly theme, and there is also some gold shine in the paper itself.

Before gluing down all my layers, I took a Tonic Stencil and added some stars with Nuvo’s Expanding Mousse. I like how it adds something extra to the background without being too overpowering. I also took some Midas Touch Aqua Shimmer and splattered it on around the mousse stars. Its hard to pick up in photos, but the Midas Touch gives fine, shimmering flecks around the stars that makes the layout feel magical.

I also used some Craft Perfect Kraft Brown Cardstock for layering and for matting my photos. Then, I added the die cut pieces all around. I even used some of the negative cut out pieces from the dies to add some swirls to edges of the layout.

To fill in a few gaps, I used the Summer Flowers stamp set from Tonic Studios. I just stamped a few leaves, embossed in Nuvo gold embossing powder, and fussy cut the images. I then grouped leaves together and layered them onto my layout.

That finishes my post for the day! I hope you enjoyed a look at these new Designer’s Choice dies. If you are interested in grabbing these dies in the Tonic store, go ahead and use the discount code, DIEFIVE, to take $5 off your order!

Until next time,
Marie Nicole
