Hey, friends! If you have been following me at all you know that I LOVE to add shine to my cards! This card ended up having multiple shiny mediums added, and I love the result! I used the background stamp, Geometric Landscapes, from Altenew.
I stamped out the background and embossed it in Brutus Monroe’s Gilded embossing powder. I then added Nuvo Gilding Flakes to a number of the spaces.
Using Gilding Flakes on your projects is so super simple. They basically just need something to adhere to. I used the Nuvo Medium Glue Pen to add some glue and allowed it a minute to get tacky before adding the flakes over it. Then, I just added the flakes, burnished them down gently with my fingers, and brushed away the excess flakes.
Next, I painted in a few of the areas with some Shimmer Powder from Nuvo. I used the color Meteor Shower, which is a beautiful blue with purple flecks in it. I painted on the color with a brush. Since I did not use watercolor paper, I was careful to try not to add too much water, but if you wanted to add more liquid, definitely use watercolor paper with these Shimmer Powders!
I also filled in a few of the open spaces with some Journey Glaze from Fun Stampers Journey. This glaze is a bit like Glossy Accents, it dries clear and adds some dimension. I added some glaze over some white spaces, as well as over some of the watercolored spaces, which gave the impression of jewels or crystals.
I then trimmed the background in half diagonally, added a strip of glitter paper along the diagonal cuts for a border, and popped the two background pieces up on foam adhesive. Then, I added a gilded heart, some sequins, and an embossed sentiment from the Altenew Geometric Landscapes stamp set.
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed this SHINY blog post today.
Until next time,
