Hello, craft friends! I have some exciting new items from Spellbinders today. They have launched their Modern Essentials collection which includes a number of basic sets for die cutting and foiling. I have the rectangle sets to show today, so let’s get started!

Nested Rectangle Dies and Glimmer Plates
Like I mentioned, I have the rectangle sets. I used both the Glimmer plates and the dies on this card. I started by stamping all the florals on my background, and then coloring them in with some Copics. No fancy shading here- just simple coloring.
I then used the rectangle Glimmer plates to add a foiled dotted detail over both the flowers and the smaller rectangle layered on front. This is such a subtle addition to this card, but when you tip it in the light the gold shine really goes well with those blue flowers!
Sentiment with Dies and Glimmer Plates
When my flowers were finished, I started working on the sentiment. I used some die cut letters from a steel rule die from Spellbinders, and then added the supporting sentiment underneath with the Modern Essentials Glimmer sentiments. What? I didn’t mention this set already? This sentiment set is amazing! It is FULL of basic sentiments that you can add to your cards. There is also two banner dies in this set that coordinate with the sentiments so you can cut them out and add to a card.
Once my sentiments were ready, I added the big “thanks” to the front of my card using both liquid and foam adhesive.
Mix N’ Match
The last thing I wanted to mention before I go is how much I love that all these essentials pieces can coordinate together. The rectangle dies and glimmer plates fit so nicely together, so you can die cut a rectangle and then glimmer the frame around it, like I did on my card. The sentiments are easily added to any project, as well! These are definitely items you can use on almost any project- even if you just want to use the largest rectangle die to cut out a card panel for the front of your card. So simple!
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed a look at how to use these modern essentials on your projects.
Until next time,
