Mask off Stripes
I began these cards by using some regular painter’s tape to mask off stripes. I made my stripes about 1″ wide- but if you choose to try this at home you can make them any size you want! *TIP* If using painter’s tape, it helps if you run it on your sleeve a few times before adding it to your paper. This makes it less sticky, and less likely to rip your paper when removing it. Also, peel it off your paper VERY slowly!
After you have stripes masked off, you can apply color with your Scrapbook.com hybrid inks (or any ink you have) with a blending tool! I used some bright hues and I love this color combination! These inks from Scrapbook.com are so vibrant!
Stencil Over Your Stripes
Once you have your stripes applied, you can leave them as-is, OR you can step it up a notch and stencil over them! I used this ROSE STENCIL from Scrapbook.com with some white pigment ink. The white ink adds the fun design without being too overwhelming. You do need to give the pigment ink a little more drying time, though, since it doesn’t soak into the paper as quickly as the hybrid inks do.
I did two different variations of this style- I think its so pretty! I added three vertical stripes to one card, and then stenciled. For my second card, I added stripes and the stenciled design over the whole card front, and I love this result, as well.
Add a Bold Sentiment
With so many bright colors, I chose to stamp my sentiments in crisp black hybrid ink from Scrapbook.com. The contrast of black against the bright pops of color is so vibrant! I used sentiments from the CARDS FOR KINDNESS stamp set. The font is fun and unique, and the sentiments themselves are general and pretty much the kind of sentiments that I use most often.
I finished these cards off by just a few white Nuvo drops around the sentiment. This adds just a little fun detail. You could also use sequins or other embellishments you have.
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you love this look at the CARDS FOR KINDNESS stamp set, and go check out the CARDS FOR KINDNESS MISSION AT SCRAPBOOK.COM!
