Spellbinders Club Kits BLOG HOP!

Spellbinders- Small Die Club April 2020- Color Block Art- Marie Nicole Designs-2366

Hey, there, crafty friends! I hope each and every one of you are staying safe and staying healthy right now. If you find yourself stuck at home, maybe a bit of creative therapy will help ease the stress. I am excited to be part of today’s blog hop with Spellbinders to bring you even more creative inspiration using the April Club Kits!

Im using the Small Die of the Month Club Kit for today’s card. I did some color block style ink blending, added some hot foiled polka dots, and then added my die cuts on front to tie this look together.

Color Block Masking and Ink Blending

For the background, I used some painter’s tape and some Purple tape to mask off sections and then ink blend. I used three different hues of pink, and one bright yellow. If you are looking for color block ideas, go ahead and do an internet search! Lots of inspiration for designs as well as color schemes.

Hot Foiled Polka Dots

Once the ink blended background was finished, I heated up my Glimmer Hot Foil System to add the foiled polka dots down the left side. The foil I used is a unique one- it is clear with a colorful shine to it. When you add it over an ink blended background, some of the color shows through. This foil is perfect for this technique where you want to add some interest to your card without it being too overwhelming. These polka dots are subtle, and yet you can see them shine when you tip the card in the light. So fun!

Add Your Die Cut Sentiments

To finish this card, I added the sentiment by die cutting the word pieces from the Small Die kit. The kit for April is designed to coordinate with the Truckin’ Through the Seasons die set. I do not have that set, but you can still get creative with these dies! I added three of the license plate dies- stacked above each other with the bow on top. I think it looks a bit like a gift! This card definitely has a party feel going on.

Once the die cuts were in place, I added some little gold saucer sequins and called it done! Love these bright colors and I want to play around with some more color block designs again soon!

Liked that you kept the background simple but interesting and colorful so that the sentiments were the focus of the card. Thought–provoking that the foil is semi-transparent. Just got my glimmer kit and will have to get some of the foil you used. Thanks for the video and tips!
