Foiled Florals- Yana’s Blooming Birthday Collection

Welcome back, crafty friends! Im so excited to share a few gorgeous new glimmer plates from the new BLOOMING BIRTHDAY collection designed by Yana Smakula. These glimmer plates are absolutely gorgeous!

The stripes and the florals are perfect on any type of project, but there are also many other pieces in this collection, so make sure you head to SPELLBINDERS to check it out!

Foiled Rainbow Slimline

I knew right away that these stripes would look fantastic on a slimline card. I placed the striped glimmer plate on an angle and glimmered it using the Aura glimmer foil. This is a gold color that has a rainbow shine to it. So lovely! Now, the stripes plate will only glimmer about half the length of a slimline, so I had to reapply the plate- lining it up with where the design left off- and foil again.

Then, I used some inks to add a light rainbow ink blended edge to the bottom of the card front.

I decided to add some stitched details to this card by running it through my sewing machine. I went around the border and then also along some of the striped areas.

The flowers are also glimmered, and I used my Zig watercolor brush markers to color them. Watercolor is a gentle medium that works great with the foiled images. It will not scratch away any of the foil or cover it up in any way.

The last thing I did on this card was add a few long banners, one ink blended with polka dots, and then die cut the sentiment using black cardstock. Such a bright and fun card!

Adding Cardstock to Stripes

For my second card, I foiled the background at an angle again. On an A2 sized card, you do not have to foil twice. The glimmer plate is large enough to cover the whole background.

I added a few pieces of cardstock that I trimmed down to fit in between the stripes. This is a fun way to add color without doin any ink blending. I added some light blue just to the top of the card, but you could always add color all the way across your card front.

I cut a large banner shape to stamp the sentiment on, and then I added some more stitched detail around the border of the card and the banner.

I again watercolored the florals from the floral glimmer plate, and popped them up onto the banner using some foam adhesive. To finish off this card, I used some drops to add a few white pearl drops as an embellishment.

Isn’t this collection just gorgeous? Please head on over to Spellbinders to check out the full BLOOMING BIRTHDAY collection. There are more pieces that I wasn’t able to show you in this post!

Until next time,
Marie Nicole
