I am so excited for today’s blog hop! This week, the Brutus Monroe Inspiration Team is doing projects all about SHRINK FILM. The Shrink Film is so much fun to play with. You can stamp and color on it, cut it out, and then shrink it down with a heat tool or in your oven. Perfect for making charms, jewelry, embellishments for your cards, or even shaker bits!
I created some snowflake shaker bits by die cutting my shrink film, shrinking it down with my heat tool, and then also applying some STERLING EMBOSSING POWDER on top! I experimented with this technique on my YouTube channel through a live stream. If you want to see the replay, the video is here below!
After my snowflake shaker bits were finished, I decided to build a wintry shaker card to add them to.
I created the ink blended background for my shaker window by blending on some of my SURFACE INKS. Then, I cut the circle window out of a panel of white cardstock using my FOUNDATIONS STITCHED CIRCLE DIES.
I then added some plastic to the back of my panel to create the window. In order to contain all my shaker bits, I added some FOAM TAPE all around the edges. The Brutus Monroe foam tape is the perfect thickness for shaker cards, and it is also super sticky, so no worrying about your card falling apart!
I wanted to add more detail to the front of my card, so I used a birch tree die from Taylored Expressions and added it over my window. I used a pencil to lightly mark around the edges of the window, and then cut the trees out so that the window would still be clearly visible. I love how this turned out!
With all my parts ready, I assembled my shaker card. I added my snowflake shrink film embellishments, and then also dumped in a good amount of glitter, too. I then took the backing paper off my foam tape and adhered it down to the front of my card. TIP: the foam tape is so super sticky, so sometimes it is hard to take the backing paper off. I find that using a sharp poking tool or a craft knife works best!
To finish my card, I die cut the sentiment using my LETTER DIES, and then added just a bit of color to the bottom of the letters with my surface ink and blending tool. I adhered the letters to the front with my BRUTUS MONROE LIQUID GLUE, and then also embellished with some sequins.
I love how bright and wintry this card turned out! Thanks so much for stopping by! Please follow the links below to check out what the rest of the team has created using the SHRINK FILM! Happy Hopping!
