Brutus Monroe Deco Foil- Watercolor ombre card- Marie Nicole Designs

I decided to work with some of the new Brutus Monroe Deco Foils for today’s post. I wanted to pair those bright foils with a softer look, so I went with a watercolor gradient for a background. This watercolor technique is definitely inspired by Kristina Werner, and if you want to see her video on this technique, CLICK HERE!

I took a piece of watercolor paper and cut it down to slightly smaller than an A2 sized card. Then, I tore off a bit of the bottom portion of the cardstock panel. I then used my Brutus Monroe AQUA PIGMENTS to begin adding color. I used the watercolor without adding any water and added it straight to the bottom. I wanted as much pigment as possible to make the bottom the darkest portion of the card.

After I had the color added, I slowly helped move the color upward on the paper by using more water, a little at a time. This helped the color fade out as it moved up on the card. After I was done, I dried my watercolor.

I then used a large heart die and cut out the heart shape. I layered some of the new SILVER SKETCH deco foil behind this cutout. The foiled piece is actually on one of the clear transfer sheets, so it acts as a foiled window on this card.

Then, I kept the front sentiment simple by fussy cutting a flower from Canvas Corp’s Bohemian Romance papers and added it along the side of the heart.

The sentiment is from the Brutus Monroe set, ROSE BORDER, and is embossed in ICICLE EMBOSSING POWDER over some Versafine Black Ink.

Thats it for today’s card! I hope this leaves you with some of your own ideas and inspiration! Please follow the list of links below to continue hopping!!
