Brutus Monroe May Stencil of the Month + BLOG HOP!

Hello, friends! I hope you enjoy today’s card! I am hopping along with the Brutus Monroe team today to share some of the May subscription items. I created this card using the Stencil of the Month. This stencil is so gorgeous! One of my new favorites!

I started by using my SURFACE INKS to ink blend a blue background. I used a light blue over the whole surface, and then made the outside edges a bit darker, giving a spotlight effect. Then, I used the stencil to add more dark blue over the whole background. I love the tone on tone look, and also how you get that gradient of color using the different shades of blue!

I then used my SPELLBINDERS PLATINUM 6 to die cut a heart out of the bottom right side, with just an edge hanging off the side. I wanted to create sort of a window for my sentiment.

I marked the area that I wanted to stamp my sentiment, and then stamped it out using VERSAFINE BLACK INK. I used this encouraging sentiment from the SPRING WREATH stamp set. I also added a supporting sentiment by embossing “you are amazing” onto a strip of black cardstock using GILDED EMBOSSING POWDER.

The whole stenciled panel is popped up using some kraft foam, and then to finish this card, I glued on some sequins around the heart.

I love the simple sentiment against the stunning background! I hope you will give this ink-on-ink technique a try!

Dont forget to stop by the rest of the team’s blogs! They have all created some amazing projects to share with you featuring the May subscription items from Brutus Monroe! Happy hopping!
