Welcome back, friends.
I’m sharing a new Glimmer plate that is part of a collection from Spellbinders. They have released a set of solid glimmer plates in a variety of shapes. I love this because solids are great foiling plates to have, and they offer quite a bit of variety.
For my card, I kept it simple by foiling the oval shape and then letting it shine (pun intended) by simply framing it with some floral die cuts.
I colored the flowers with some of Jane Davenport’s Mermaid Markers. I love the vibrant colors that these watercolor brushes add to my cards.

To achieve a solid, crisp foiling on my cardstock, I did add a paper shim to my Glimmer sandwich while foiling. This added just a bit more pressure and allowed me to get a perfect foiling. I did have to use a sand eraser to rub away a few areas where I accidentally over-foiled. Not a big problem, though, and it is not noticeable at all.
The background color was added after I foiled the oval. I just did some gentle ink blending with some Speckled Egg Oxide ink, and then some splatters with the Mermaid Markers. The great thing about foil is that it acts as a resist with a variety of mediums. I was able to gently wipe away any ink sitting on top of the foil with a wet baby wipe.
My sentiment is just a simple “hello” sticker that was leftover from one of the Spellbinders Card Kits. I love being able to use more of the elements from my kits on even more cards. Those kits really are packed full of goodies!
That’s all I have for you today. Full list of items used below.
Until next time,
Marie Nicole
