Watercolor Cards + BLOG HOP!

Welcome back to my blog, friends! This week, I want to share with you a card I created using Brutus Monroe’s AQUA PIGMENTS to create a watercolor background.

To begin this card, I used the stamp set, BIRDS OF A FEATHER, and stamped the feathers is a pattern and then embossed them in PENNY EMBOSSING POWDER. I did this on AQUA PIGMENT PAPER because I knew I was going to watercolor them. Embossing an image before watercoloring is a favorite way to use watercolors. The raised embossed edges on the image helps to hold in the watercolors.

After my images were embossed, I mixed several of my watercolors to create some fall hues. I created a reddish purple, a mustard yellow, and an olive color and applied them to my feathers. Then, for the area around my feathers I added some brown, letting it dry and then adding more layers over top. I kept the color and images on the left side of the card.

For the right side of the card, I used the new BRICK WALL BACKGROUND STAMP from Brutus Monroe and Unity Stamps. I inked up the stamp partially with MAPLE SURFACE INK, and stamped it right along the edge. That finished my background.

To complete this card, I added some circles that I die cut with the STITCHED CIRCLE FOUNDATION DIES. The larger circle in the background was cut from vellum, and the smaller circle that has the sentiment is again some AQUA PIGMENT PAPER that I added more BROWN to. The sentiment is one from the SUPER SENTIMENTAL STAMP SET, and embossed in PENNY to match the feathers.

I hope you like today’s card! For more watercolor inspiration, please hop along to the rest of the team’s blog posts. Follow the links below!

Thank you, Tracy! Both stamp sets are amazing on their own, but they work beautifully together!

The effect is so subtle. I LOVE it, and would like to try it out for Thanksgiving cards. Nice
